Research facilities

O3 Technologies co., Ltd laboratories, with the latest analytical instruments, the company’s own test systems and an expert team of experienced engineers and scientists, provide virtually unlimited opportunities for researching potential new applications for ozone. New ideas are put into practice with the help of specially developed test systems and pilot plants, while specific customer queries can be addressed in laboratory and on-site tests.

National and international research projects are carried out in cooperation with scientific institutes.

Laboratory

Internal and customer-specific problems concerning the use of ozone, and combined applications can be researched using test layouts of different types and sizes.


Scaled-up pilot plants

A large pool of scaled-up pilot plants is available for specific trials under real conditions at the customer’s site. The compact, user-friendly design of the plants (on mounting frame or in container) makes them easy to transport. If required, these pilot plants can be adapted to particular circumstances or to enable specific problems to be researched.

Inventory of semicommercial-scale systems:

  • 15 mobile ozone test systems with an ozone capacity of 5 - 3000 g ozone/h, some of them with pump/injector input and downstream reaction equipment and instrumentation
  • Bubble columns for ozone input through ceramic diffusers
  • Biofilters for biological final purification of the treated water
  • Sand filters for final purification

Result:

  • Confirmation of feasibility
  • Configuration data for customer-specific systems
  • Operating and investment costs

Applications

Ozone technology can be used for a wide range of applications. As an environmentally friendly oxidant, ozone can be used wherever pollutants and harmful substances need to be efficiently eliminated by means of oxidation processes. There is therefore a wide spectrum of potential ozone applications. The basic requirement for the most efficient use of an oxidation process is a good understanding of the reaction technology, together with experience in the design of such systems.

Potential applications

  • Degradation of organic substances in water (e.g. humic substances in potable water)
  • Reduction of COD in wastewater
  • Degradation of substances that are harmful (e.g. cyanides, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, endocrine disruptors)
  • Decolorourization of wastewater
  • Off-gas treatment (e.g. reduction of sulphur compounds)


Use in industrial processes

  • Bleaching processes (cellulose, kaolin, etc.)
  • Synthesis of chemical or pharmaceutical products
  • Product finishing (food preservation, enhanced bonding in coating processes, etc.)
